INSPIRE Data Sharing and the ENVplus CrowdSourcing Service

The current state of implementation of the INSPIRE Directive is discussed in an interesting interview to Joeri Robbrecht, policy analyst for the DG Environment, published in the online version of the GIM International magazine.
The eENVplus project and more e specifically the eENVplus CrowdSourcing service is mentioned as an example on how INSPIRE can be used in the context of crowdsourcing applications.
The eENVplus CrowdSourcing service is the first tool that allows to generate INSPIRE-compliant data, according with the Species Distribution v4.0 data theme, by the use of data collected by users.

Project meeting in Budapest

An eENVplus General meeting was held in Budapest (HU) during 17-19 March 2015. The meeting took place in the premises of the Ministry of Agriculture, located in front of the Parliament of Hungary.

The consortium warmly thanks the Ministry of Rural Development of Hungary, the University of West Hungary and specially Dr. Takács András Attila for the excellent organisation.

eENVplus contribution to WPS in QGIS

Leveraging the eENVplus development work, the “QgsWPS” functionality (plugin that allow the use of the standard OGC WPS) for QGIS 2.4, has been extended.
In particular the work done makes the plugin compatible with the standard WPS 1.0.0 implements by GeoServer.
This work provide to users an open source tool able to invoke the WPS services implements inside Geoserver, as those developed within eENVplus, with a tangible benefit for the adoption of OGC standards.

MYGEOSS First Call For Innovative Apps in the environmental and social domains

MYGEOSS is launching an open call for development of innovative applications (mobile or web-based) using openly available or crowd-generated data in different domains addressing citizens’ needs.

The pool of open data for use includes but is not limited to the Data Collection of Open Resources for Everyone (GEOSS Data-CORE) made available by the Group on Earth observation (GEO) through the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS), as well as open data from EU-funded projects.

Mid-term evaluation report on INSPIRE implementation

The INSPIRE Directive, which came into force in 2007 and is expected to be fully implemented by 2020, aims to establish a European Spatial Data Infrastructure in order to support policy making by providing more and better spatial data. The following report analyses the state of implementation of the Directive at the mid-point of its implementation. The conclusions of the report suggest that INSPIRE implementation is on track, however, certain actions – especially coordination and data sharing – would benefit from strategic adjustment.

The program will offer parallel paper presentation sessions, keynote sessions, poster sessions and pre-conference workshops to share your ideas, explore on-going research, future developments, including state-of-the-art applications, and to network with the professionals from academia, industry, and government who are interested in promoting GI teaching and research activities among GI laboratories at the European level.

eENVplus (eENVironmental services for advanced applications via INSPIRE www.eENVplus.eu) is a project co-funded by the European Commission under the Competitiveness & Innovation Framework Programme 2007-2013.

On Wednesday 1 October, the first Greek Workshop on eENVplus will take place.

The aim of the workshop is to allow closer connection of eENVplus in the Hellenic context.
